For the Graphic Designer position, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team of committed professionals to help take our organization to new heights. The person in this role will be a part of a larger team but will be collaborating most closely with Communications Managers, Project Managers, and a web developer contractor. The Graphic Designer plays a vital role in communicating Habitat’s vision and brand to our community. This position designs both digital and print marketing materials for all departments, with a wide array of design needs.

The person in this role must live in the Portland region (or be willing to commute) to complete the occasional graphic design projects that require in-person assessment and production at our construction sites, retail stores, event locations, and offices. Due to Covid-19, office staff are currently working from home, with an option to work at the office when needed. We are continuing to evaluate our policies with a commitment to the safety of our staff. We offer an alternative work schedule after 6 months of employment.

Status: Full-time/Exempt
Compensation: $44,499 – $55,630. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
Design a wide variety of digital and print creative for the entire organization—Habitat for Humanity and our ReStores—including emails, website graphics, marketing campaigns, print and online advertisements, construction and retail signage, brochures, event materials, and annual reports.
Exercise creativity to develop concepts and themes that will be applied to a campaign featuring a wide variety of materials.
Ensure Habitat’s visual brand identity follows current Habitat for Humanity brand guidelines.
Meet with project management team to determine workloads and assignments to in-house or contractor design support.
Design emails for a variety of purposes, including monthly e-newsletters, event promotions, fundraising appeals, and more.
Work with website developer to ensure website meets design best practices.
Work in a highly collaborative, team environment. Receive feedback from multiple stakeholders, implement changes, and work with co-creators to turn around assets by their deadlines.
Manage multiple deadlines in a project management tracking system.
Stay current on web, email, and print design best practices.
Required Skills:
Minimum 3 years of professional digital and print graphic design experience.
Commitment to and respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Utilize an equity lens when designing and communicating.
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop.
Solid grasp of layout, typography, color, and visual hierarchy.
Basic HTML, CSS skills for website and email design. Design responsive email templates.
Knowledge of WordPress or another content management system. Ability to edit and format text and graphics in a content management system.
Strong time management, project management and organizational skills; can juggle multiple projects and deadlines. Sharp attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills. An easygoing nature and desire/ability to take feedback, collaborate, problem solve, and work on a close-knit team.
Brand management and experience working with brand guidelines.
Self-starter.
Experience partnering with a web developer to produce website graphics.
Print design and production experience. Produce final art and pre-press files.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
Ability to design PowerPoint presentations.
Ability to pre-flight, collect, and archive files.
Some local travel to construction sites, event locations, retail stores, and the office is required for in-person assessment and production of print design projects.
Occasional lifting of 40 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
Smartsheet or other project management software experience.
