We are hiring for a Jumbo Underwriter to work remotely for our operations team.
Job purpose:
Candidate is responsible for overseeing all aspects and functions related to analyzing and evaluating jumbo loan applications against various investors’ guidelines. Candidate must be able to understand, organize and apply differences in jumbo investors’ guidelines, which can be significantly different on the same issue. In addition, they should have strong organizational and accuracy skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Duties and responsibilities:
Review new loan files to ensure loan meets investor and program criteria. Minimum standard of 35-40 files per month with a turn time of 24-48 hours or as set by underwriting manager
Must be knowledgeable and experienced with manual underwriting
Suggests alternative loan programs by restructuring the loan when possible.
Review credit report and compare liabilities to 1003 and review derogatory credit items to assure they meet program guidelines.
Calculate income using required documentation per investor requirements. Ability to analyze complex personal and business tax returns.
Review asset statements for new deposits and require documentation per guidelines.
Review Title to verify ownership, lien and title history, and property taxes.
Verify file documentation meets manual underwriting as applicable.
Issues credit decision based on underwriting review and program eligibility
Sends and/or calls out credit decision with all appropriate conditions, a suspense with detailed reason, or a denial with detailed reasons.
Timely response to PFQC and Post Close findings
Ensure and upholds Fair Lending practices
Knowledge and understanding of Initial Disclosure and CD regulations
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Job Skills:
Minimum 4 years’ experience underwriting jumbo loans.
Must have experience in DU, LP, and encompass.
Ability to handle high volume levels and meet productivity standards
Ability to handle confidential material in a professional and ethical manner
Excellent written and verbal skills
Personal Attributes:
Time management and organization skills to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and achieve production focused goals
Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships
Ability to work under tight timelines
Ability to work independently and be a team player
Must be proactive and reliable
Working conditions:
Position is for remote from home. Overtime as needed and approved by management.
