We have two (2) Limited Duration, F ull-Time positions that will work seasonally from December through May available with the Oregon Department of Forestry in the Forest Grove. These Limited Duration positions are expected to end no later than December 2023.

WHAT WILL YOU DO
You will be part of a crew member working in a wide variety of manual tasks in the areas of fuels reduction through thinning, pruning, and piling of fuels. This position performs as a member of a fuels crew implementing project plans provided by the fuels planning forester within the grant program guidelines. This position performs a wide variety of manual tasks in the areas of hazard fuels reduction as identified in the grant program through the use of hand tools, pole saws and power saws, and does tool and equipment maintenance. In addition, this employee may be required to work in the suppression of fires both before and after Fire Season and/or work on other projects including burning, thinning, trapping, etc.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
Candidates whose demonstrate skills, abilities and/or experience in the following:
Must be 18 years of age by time of hire.
Experience working with chain saws.
Experience working as a member of a crew.
Experience operating hand tools and motorized equipment.
Experience working in fuels abatement or treatment projects.
Completion of Basic Wildland Fire Training (S130 and S190).
Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of service, workforce diversity, equity and inclusion, team environment, and strong internal communication and alignment.
Proven experience as an excellent communicator who is honest, fair and inclusive among employees, partners and stakeholders.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%
