Position : VICTIM WITNESS SPECIALIST
Job Description : The City Attorney’s office is seeking a Victim Witness Specialist who will provide statutorily mandated services to victims and witnesses of crime working primarily with domestic violence victims.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: provide assistance to domestic violence victims, other victims of crime, witnesses, and the general public; respond to requests for information, determine what information can be released, follow all applicable laws and regulations when providing information, provide public with information on available resources, assist victims and witnesses in obtaining orders of protection; maintain records and files on all assigned cases; serves as a liaison for victims and witnesses and the criminal justice system, provide information to the appropriate parties regarding a case, schedule interviews with victims and witnesses, conduct research and locate witnesses.; provide support for victims and witnesses including community resources and attend arraignments and other court proceedings as necessary and provide information to Municipal Court. This position requires strong interpersonal skills.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Salary: $55,938 annually plus excellent benefits. This is an exempt position.
Minimum Qualifications: Four (4) year degree in criminal justice, human services, sociology, social work, psychology or a related program One (1) year of experience related to victims’ services Must be able to pass a state and federal criminal background check
