Job Description : This position is a fully remote position that requires 50% travel. Successful candidate must be located within the Cascade Natural Gas service territory of Washington or Oregon.

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Additionally, assists with the communication of the company’s vision, mission value and business strategies by implementing policies, programs and activities that enhance the image and reputation of the company; support company goals and objectives; educate the public; inform employees; and identify, track, address, and influence issues and the attitudes and concerns of the company’s various audiences including employees, media, public, local and regional governmental and public officials, and local and regional business and trade organizations. Works with leadership to assist with planning, developing, and implementing a government and public affairs program to achieve an effective interface between the company and local and regional government entities; working in concerts with contract governmental affairs representatives and affiliated associations when appropriate. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, public policy, environmental policy, political science.
3 years’ professional work experience and demonstrated ability in local government affairs, community relations, public policy, or environmental policy.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience in local community or economic development; environmental or decarbonization policy; or state or local government preferred.
Desired background or interest in energy, utilities and utility regulation, economic and community development, environmental sustainability, resource adequacy, or decarbonization inclusive of gaseous fuels.Strategic communication skills and understanding of industry and policy issues.
Key Skills And Competencies • Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Understanding of public policy developments pertaining to the gas industry at state /local level.Ability to effectively track and communicate on a broad range of complicated public policy issues and initiatives.Excellent research, problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work under tight time frames and stressful conditions.Ability to deescalate tense situations and communicate thoughtfully and professionally under tense conditions.Working knowledge of issues concerning energy, climate, decarbonization, or regulated utilities and utility regulation.
Good judgement is essential to this position.
Additional Information • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage, or unauthorized access.Required to maintain a valid driver’s license.Requires travel: Extensive (50% and over).
