Family and Consumer Science
SUMMARY:
To help students learn subject matter in culinary skills (basic baking and cooking) and sewing skills. Skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
Responds in a cooperative and positive manner to supervision.
Participates in activities which are related to school functions and/or the educative process which may occur outside the regular school day.
Assumes responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.
Plan and present a program of study that meets the individual needs of students in the Family and Consumer Science program.
Work collaboratively with staff in the development and implementation of the Family and Consumer Science certified course work.
Provide a classroom climate conducive to student learning stressing safety, personal responsibility and skill development.
Give students the opportunity to develop leadership skills as well as supervisory skills.
Communicate with parents and community on a regular basis.
Plan and prepare a budget for assigned area.
Adhere to state, district and school
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students in assigned classroom and during periods of duty supervision.
Supervises teacher assistants and volunteers as may be assigned.
