Cinematography is hands down the most fun and interesting way to tell stories and generate interests for companies or individuals looking to entertain, to inform, to educate and/or to promote to their target audience. From using gimbals to create cinematic slow-motion shots, to using GoPro’s for up close action FPV style shots, or flying drones for bird’s eye view establishing shots, we are looking for cinematographers that enjoy this just as much as we do.Type of position: The Freelance Cinematographer position is an independent contractor position, meaning that payment is received on a per-job basis. This is perfect for cinematographers looking to add more projects to their schedule when available, while still being able to continue to pursue their own interests.Core Responsibilities: Be driven, motivated, and willing to take on responsibilities.Ability to follow and complete shot-lists when assigned, but also able to be creative and find your own shots.Communicate with clients on-site with outgoing, energetic, and confident customer service skills.Give direction to participants of a shoot, and manage time effectively.Work alone or with a group.Ensure footage is in focus, properly exposed, and color balanced in various lighting situations.Upload footage in the time-frame provided by PTF.Qualifications: Professional cinematography gearSkilled in the areas of shooting and lightingStrong knowledge of composition and framingStrong ability to create and execute ideasAdvanced knowledge of technical equipment, including cameras, lenses, audio equipment, and lightingAbility to film in any condition (indoor/outdoor/sunny/dark)Ability to record audio in any condition (indoor/outdoor/sunny/dark)Ability to work well under time constraints or limitations that may ariseAble to work well in a team or with other cinematographersStrong communication skillsReliable transportationEquipment Requirements: This position does require that you are willing to provide your own and/or rent camera equipment.Cameras: We accept a variety of cameras and will ask what cameras and lenses you use, but all cameras must meet the following criteria: good low-light performance, ability to shoot in Log or RAW, autofocus face detection (manual focus is acceptable depending on skill level), 4K at 24fps and 60fps (if 4K 60fps is not available, at least 1080p 60fps is acceptable).Lenses: Must have 1-2 lenses, at least one lens that shoots f/1.8 or faster.Drone: Definitely a plus with a pay increase. Must be Part 107 certified and licensed.Audio: Boom Mic Operation, Shotgun Microphone, Condenser Microphone, Lavalier MicrophonesCamera Stabilizer: Must own and have experience operating a 3-axis gimbal (DJI Ronin, Zihyun, Movi, etc).Additional Perks: No pressure.
