Job Summary: The Zip Line Guide oversees the daily operation of the zip line in a safe and efficient manner while promoting positive guest relations with riders. The Zip Line/Aerial Adventure Park Operations office/locker room will be located in the Base Lodge Clinic Building (summer use of Ski School lockers). Lead Guide will assist Operations Manager(s)/Supervisors and will focus on daily tour coordination and guest service situations that may arise.
Job Relationships: Reports to: Zip Line Supervisor and/or Zip Line Operations Manager/Director Employees Supervised: none Interrelationships: all mountain departments
Job Specifications: Ability to speak clearly and communicate thoroughly with customers and co-workers. High school graduate or GED equivalent. Must be familiar with or be able to become familiar with ropes safety procedures, (i.e. proper belay, harness and evacuation procedures). Must be comfortable in working at heights in excess of 100 feet. Ability to provide accurate information and maintain good attitude during varying situations. Current CPR/AED (training provided)
Specific Duties: General start up procedures. Carries out daily, on-going zip inspections. Coordinate each morning and evening with the Guest and Information Services Department for the number of guests for each tour. Take off and landing areas will be maintained. Trail and take-off/landing area landscaping projects Maintain and inspect safety equipment on a specified schedule. Notify supervisor of any safety concerns, required maintenance or grooming needed. Prepares for and carries out emergency procedures as required. Fit guests with size appropriate harnesses and helmets. Educate guests regarding safety procedures. Responsible for inspecting and checking-in harnesses and helmets at the end of each tour. Check tour registrations/payments as needed and make necessary adjustments with Guest and Information Services Dept. Conforms to uniform, grooming and name tag requirements. Must possess the ability to perform job duties within the framework of WSI policies and procedures. Subject to WSI’s Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse Policy based on the nature of the position and related duties.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Able to lift 20 pounds above the head repetitively with twisting and bending. Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Able to engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque during the loading the trolley and helping guests prepare for their take off and landing. Walking/hiking on unstable ground, up and down hills. Able to engage in physical activity and standing for extended periods of time. Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature. Job may require working weekends, holidays and overtime during peak demand times. Non-smoking environment.
Safety & Wellness:
All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity
