More than 3.5 million visitors enjoy the Park each year, making it one of Oregon’s top tourist destinations.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Programs Coordinator is a key operations and project management role in the program areas of Explore Washington Park. The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning and completion of several operational programs as well as for completing other administrative tasks as assigned by the Senior Operations Manager. The coordinator ensures smooth operation of the parkwide shuttle, offsite parking, and visitor surveying programs by designing and implementing operations plans, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, providing guidance and training to visitor services staff, and by assigning direct-visitor service and operations maintenance projects to the Weekend Visitor Services Supervisor. The Programs Coordinator will provide project support for strategic projects assigned by the Senior Programs Manager, including – but not limited to – research, content creation, and data management and analysis.Some evening and holiday work requiredHours and workdays vary based on season, Monday – FridaySalary and Benefits$55,000 – $62,000Health care, including dental (premium 100% covered for employees)Retirement matched at 3%Vacation and sick time accrual (80 hours/year vacation and sick)Paid holiday time (10 days)TriMet passDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPlanning, oversight, and successful completion of several EWP Operations’ programs:Free Shuttle ProgramCoordinate successful shuttle services, including making suggestions for service changes/additions and making timely adjustments to the number of shuttles and other resources, based on demand and projections.Provide contracted drivers training on Washington Park’s institutions and attractions.Serve as the contact for drivers when visitor questions or needs arise.Problem-solve with the driver’s manager if incidences occur.Offsite Parking ServicesPlan and schedule offsite parking services for peak summer season and Zoolights.Supervise the Weekend Visitor Services Supervisor in offsite parking implementation.Provide in-person support in the absence of the Weekend Visitor Services Supervisor, or when otherwise required (likely during Zoolights and holiday weeks).Summer Seasonal Visitor ServiceEWP hires seasonal staff from Memorial Day to Labor Day to provide in-person visitor assistance and information.. Field staff currently operate out of a booth at the International Rose Test Garden and a booth at the TriMet MAX station.Hire, train, and supervise field staff.Work closely with the Weekend Visitor Services Supervisor to ensure successful operations of the field staff team.Parkwide Staff Engagement & CultureCollaborate with Park’s partners to create a program for parkwide staff interaction.Design sessions and trainings about the Park, its features, and cultural institutions.Establish a framework for fostering staff culture by facilitating opportunities to build connections and increase engagement among and between Washington Park organizations’ staff and partners.Other Duties:Assist the Senior Programs Manager in projects as assigned, including assisting with preparing agendas, preparing grant documentation, taking notes, research, and other tasks.Finalize the operational details of strategic and tactical projects as assigned by the Senior Programs Manager.Onboard survey team temp staff.Identify opportunities to improve and expand services.Maintain the organizational relationships with many vendors and key stakeholders, including those of shuttle provider (MTR), and bus provider (First Student).Researching solutions and efficiencies at other park destinations.Respond to visitor concerns that are necessarily up-leveled by the Weekend Visitor Services Supervisor.Respond occasionally to visitors (phone/email/Google chat) in the absence of the Weekend Visitor Services Supervisor.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS2 years of experience overseeing and improving programs or supervising operations.Strong written and communication skills.Able to train and uphold a high level of performance from direct reports.Experience using computers, tablets, and phones in a work setting.Ability to drive an EWP vehicle and valid driver’s license.Ability to work outside in a variety of conditions.Positively represent Explore Washington Park and other institutions.Bilingual preferred.2 years of experience supervising staff.2 years of experience providing exceptional visitor service.COMPETENCIESService focusedStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feetSelf-motivator and able to work independentlyDiplomatic and able to consider many viewpoints when making a decisionProcess-orientedCommitment to increasing equitable access to Washington ParkAppreciation and commitment to protecting the natural worldFlexible in a constantly changing work environmentTo ApplyPlease email a resume, cover letter, and an answer to the supplemental questions to our company.
