Bring your customer service experience to the DMV team in Hermiston. Nestled in the heart of the Columbia Basin, Hermiston has been a stopover for travelers. A day in the life:
Communicate in English and Spanish regularly with customers of diverse backgrounds.
Assist the public in titling and registering vehicles and obtaining all types of over-the-road permits.
Inspect supporting documents and applications for completeness and accuracy.
Provide applicants with driver license study materials and assist them with the application process.
Administer, correct and explain driver license knowledge tests.
Conduct and interpret driver vision tests.
Perform physical examination of vehicles in all weather conditions.
Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
Determine and collect appropriate fees for transactions.
Assist in maintaining sensitive inventory and other office materials.
Account for documents and monies received; maintain established balance standards; balance receipts at the close of each business day.
Conduct driver license examinations, including behind-the-wheel drive tests, at times to marginally skilled drivers.
Travel and work in other offices in the Region as well as attend training outside of the region may be required.

What we need:
Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying laws, rules, regulations/procedures; AND

Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.

Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
The State of Oregon requires all executive branch employees to complete their COVID-19 vaccination series or have an approved exception to the requirement due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
