Position : CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Job Description : This position is responsible for investigation, enforcement and resolution of complaints related to violations of the City’s municipal codes and ordinances including enforcement of the City’s nuisance weed abatement program. Requires the ability to accurately interpret data, city codes and ordinances, and must maintain accurate and confidential records related to code enforcement complaints. The successful applicant will have frequent interaction with members of the public and must have the ability to work with a diverse customer base including complainants, property owners, and other City staff and officials, and be able to provide procedural explanations or technical responses related to code enforcement. The successful applicant will frequently act as the City’s expert and fact witness in prosecution of municipal code violations. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including phones, voice mail, fax, copiers and printers.
Work Schedule: Tuesday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Salary: $23.16/hour plus excellent benefits
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Two (2) years of formal training beyond high school, and three (3) years of work experience in code enforcement or a related field Valid Montana driver’s license or the ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment Knowledge and experience with general computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
