Providence is calling a Laboratory Aid I (Clinical Laboratory Services, Day Shift, 0.0 FTE) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:
Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Promote the HRO culture of the organization.
Policies and procedures are followed during specimen collection and are performed in a courteous, caring manner consistent with the values of St Patrick Hospital.
Assure that specimens are transported to the correct area in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure that any specimen that arrives in the laboratory does not go unattended.
Identify patient by wristband.
Notify appropriate personnel of problems related to specimen collection or testing.
Utilize a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to ensure that testing is completed at the appropriate time to meet clinical needs.
Keep leadership apprised of problems, workflow and other relevant issues.
Clean laboratory dishware, phlebotomy tray and other areas of the laboratory as needed.
Assist with monitoring inventory.
Properly labels specimens and receives them in the computer including all pertinent information.
Provides accurate answers to questions from physicians, nurses and other professionals in a timely manner.
Use computer efficiently including ordering of tests and printing and reviewing unreceived specimen report.
Verifie that all work is completed in a timely manner.
Provide training of new employees and other hospital staff.
Follow standard precautions at all times.
Prioritize STAT, timed, routine testing.
Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Phlebotomy certificate
Less than one year experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program
