Job Description : East West Tea is seeking a talented, passionate, and experienced Director of Logistics to lead efforts in supply chain and customer service by managing end-to-end operations -working closely with warehouse, production, sourcing, sales, and production teams to optimize supply chain and align with growth goals.
Role Summary
The Director of Logistics is responsible for two critical areas of Supply Chain organization: Logistics and Customer Service. The Director of Logistics is responsible for developing and implementing strategic sustainable logistics and transportation plans, both domestically and internationally, in alignment with overall company objectives by driving customer profitability and by meeting customer needs. This position leads the management of accurate entry of customer orders and coordination of the delivery of goods to our customers as well as 3PL partner.

This position is located in Eugene, Oregon with a work from home option that provides the opportunity to work outside the office up to two days per week.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN:
Freight Management: 60% of time
Determining appropriate mode and carrier (LTL, TL, Intermodal, small parcel) for inbound and outbound shipments providing transportation services, through a review of factors, both for domestic and international shipments.
Negotiation of service agreements and contracts with carriers assuring cost-effective services.
Maintaining relationships -including contracts with offsite carriers, warehouses, freight management system, and 3rd party logistic providers.
Maintain on-time delivery to customers.
Balancing current transportation and logistics needs while developing future capabilities (warehouse, carriers, 3PL vendors).
People Management & Collaboration: 40% of time
Evaluate, hire, guide, coach, develop and engage the logistics and customer service staff to ensure the department is ready to meet the growing demands of the business from order receipt, order fulfillment and order delivery -rewarding performance with respect and trust.
Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Warehouse, Sourcing, and Sales to identify, qualify, and integrate all logistics and transportation with our network of vendors, suppliers, and customers.
Automate processes when possible. Collaborate with and gain buy-in from appropriate levels of the organization regarding decisions and cost optimization projects. This includes freight consolidation, customer orders size and frequency, etc.
Design, develop and monitor processes to ensure top-level performance in Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
WHAT YOU KNOW AND HAVE EXPERIENCED:
6+ years of directly managing the daily activities of a logistics and transportation function as well as Customer Service. Preferably in the CPG, supplements, or health and natural food industries.
Experience being the system owner of the Transportation Management System.
Negotiate effectively with logistics and transportation vendors, inside and outside the US
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, transportation, economics, business administration, or a similar field
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Support company compliance with GMP’s and CFR Part 111 Dietary Supplement Regulations especially relating specifically to finished goods material handling
Experience in inbound international freight is a plus.
