The Senior Technical Business Analyst differs from a traditional business analyst in that they not only must possess expert-level traditional business analyst skills but are also expected to wield proficiency in one or more technical disciplines within data management and/or application developmentAs an integral member of the Application Development team, this position is responsible for assisting businesses in implementing technology solutions in a cost-effective manner by determining the requirements of a project or program, leading or participating in the solutioning and design of requirements implementation and communicating results to / obtaining signoff from stakeholders.Technical business analysts may be assigned by project or technology platform and are expected to participate in every stage of the software development and/or implementation lifecycle, from analysis and design through testing, release, and maintenance while adhering to current Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.Technical business analysts work closely with various customers including their immediate project teams, business unit representatives and other technical staff members, often facilitating and coordinating the communication among all parties, including vendors.The senior technical business analyst will be responsible for working on the most complex business projects and for providing strong advice and counsel to their customers on solution options, costs, timelines, designs and implementation.The senior technical business analyst will be responsible for mentoring more junior colleagues.
ANALYSIS: Gathering, Translating, and Documenting Business Requirements
* * Elicits and documents business and technical requirements as decisions present themselves throughout the lifecycle of a project or system
* * Utilizes meetings, interviews, data analysis, modeling tools, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business process analysis and task / workflow analysis
* * Memorializes requirements in the form of stories or specifications according to the appropriate methodology
* * Translates business requirements into design specifications or technical tasks
DESIGN:Participates in Logical and/or Physical Design of SystemsBalances advocacy for business stakeholder needs against robust, scalable, and secure technical designOrganizes and participates in the design of systems with architects, software developers, engineers, business experts, and other stakeholders including interface design and specifications, data modeling, and process flowsProactively identifies system design issues and conflicts, and helps define and implement solutions
