Job Description : Job Purpose Statement: The job of “Educational Assistant” is done under the direct supervision of the building principal and may also be under the supervision of a licensed staff member for the purpose of assisting in the instruction and supervision of students. This position will include providing support and intervention with students in our general education classrooms with a focus on Math. The EA will lead math intervention groups outside regular school hours including Friday mornings, before school and after school slots. Hours and schedule will be adjusted based on these duties which may also include student supervision.
Please note, this position is funded through the end of the 2021-22 school year however it may be possible that the position is extended beyond that.
General Duties:
Provide instructional support to all students under the direction of licensed staff in multiple instructional contexts: (individual, small group, large group, transitions, etc.)
Supervise and redirect students in multiple contexts to maintain a safe and inclusive environment in various settings
Build relationships and trust with students, staff and families through consistency, clear and professional communication, and empathy
Essential Job Functions:
Implement appropriate strategies, methods, materials, equipment, and record keeping in order to assist students in meeting their educational goals
Lead instruction and monitor student progress for individuals and small groups
Assist with
identifying, gathering, and preparing instructional materials/resources and educational strategies
student assessment, data gathering and record keeping
classroom management and maintaining student discipline
Communicate and collaborate with other school staff in order to meet the needs of students
Maintain regular and appropriate attendance and record keeping for the purpose of meeting the needs of the students and the school
Attend and apply required training
May be required to maintain current First aid/CPR certification, and implement medical protocols, as needed
Required Experience and Education:
Prior job related experience with school age children, especially 6th-12th graders.
Possess the equivalent of 72 quarter credits of college coursework (equivalent to an Associate’s Degree), or have passed the Oregon Paraprofessional Assessment
Will need to submit official college transcripts or test results, if hired
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Skills to perform instructional activities, communicate with parents, students, staff and community, basic arithmetic calculations, operate standard office equipment, use English in verbal and written form, use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling, and perform basic clerical functions
Knowledge of principles of child development and instructional processes
Abilities to work as part of an instructional team and be willing to be flexible in working with a wide variety of students and tasks; sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, maintain confidentiality of student records, meet schedules and deadlines, read/interpret/apply rules, regulations, policies, rapidly learn methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations
Significant physical abilities include lifting/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity

Must complete fingerprint-based criminal history verification
Work with school level students from 6th-12th grades, with focus on equity and second language skills a plus and math expertise preferred.
Oregon license in education a plus.
Four day student contact week, 8.25 hours/day, position starts on or after March 7, 2022.
