The Oregon State Police in Astoria, Oregon (St. Helens) is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Administrative Specialist 2, Evidence Technician position.

What will you do?
You will receive, maintain and dispose of evidence in accordance with Department policies and procedures, the Evidence Property Procedures Manual, and State and Federal laws and guidelines. You will be required to independently review and make decisions related to evidence, as well as ensure precision and accuracy in the tracking, maintenance, submission and disposition of property and evidence in the evidence lockers. You will maintain secured evidence lockers to ensure that evidence retains its integrity and is properly stored according to its type.
This position manages evidence at the Astoria Area Command, St. Helens Worksite and Tillamook Worksite.
You must be able to provide credible sworn testimony in a criminal or civil proceeding arising from the performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications (these must be addressed in your resume for full consideration) :
Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation.
Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations; OR
A n equivalent combination of training and experience.
One year of postsecondary education may be substituted for up to one year of the experience.

Preferred Skills (these must be addressed in your cover letter for full consideration) :
Demonstrated evidence management experience or experience in computerized inventory management, preferably in a law enforcement environment.
Experience with police evidence and evidence management procedures, including handling of potentially hazardous evidence.
Demonstrated knowledge of State and Federal privacy and security laws related to police records and experience maintaining records in a timely, accurate, and organized manner.
Experience conducting research and recommending procedures and guidelines to improve police property operations.
Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and other modern office equipment such as copy machines, scanners and barcode printers.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to diverse groups of people to include providing excellent internal and external customer service.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Must be LEDS certified or be able to gain certification upon hire.

The salary listed is the non-PERS (Public Employee Retirement System) qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%. Please review the Classification and Compensation page for more details.
