Job Description : POSITION: Business DirectorLOCATION: Baraga, MIPAY RATE: $36.05/hrSTATUS: Full-time, Exempt PositionBENEFITS: Health Benefits, Accrued vacation time, Accrued paid time off, Birthday off paid, Employee assistance program and 401k (after 1 year) with a 6% matchPOSITION SUMMARY: The Business Director is responsible for the overall operations of, and accountable for, the performance of all of the following businesses; Solid Waste Facility, Radio Stations, C-Stores (Pines, REZ, BP), Canabis, Campground, and ASEMAA. The Business Director plans, directs and coordinates activities in the area of management policy, internal control reviews, records management, financial management, personnel management and administrative services.QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and/or Business Management (or closely related field) from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years of management/supervisory experience.ORAssociate’s Degree in Business Administration and/or Business Management (or closely related field) from an accredited college or university and a minimum of ten (10) years of management/supervisory experience.ORHigh School Diploma, High School Certification of Completion, or GED with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of management/supervisory experience.2. Must possess a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License, – Michigan preferred or if another state must obtain Michigan Driver’s License within 90 days of hire,have a good driving record, and be able to operate fleet vehicles** Must sign the KBIC Driving Record Check Form. **3. Knowledge of Tribal business, laws, culture, and polices is preferred.4. Demonstrated success with financial statements, managing multiple departments, staff and operation functions within a business.5. Experience must include proven leadership, supervision of professional staff, conflict resolution, negotiation skills, departmental standard operating procedure development and implementation, establishment of long/short term goals, augmentation and implementation of business plans, measurement of quality services and fiscal management/budget development and assessment.6. Must be able to identify strategic issues, prioritize workload and identify and develop effective programs to maximize performance.7. Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills.8. Ability to provide leadership to a diverse group of people.9. Must be willing to travel between the businesses on a regular basis.10. Must possess sensitivity to Native American culture.11. Ability to work independently.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ·Supervises, directs and participates in the growth and development of all non-gaming KBIC Enterprise business managers in the performance of their duties.Leads and manages all existing KBIC Enterprise businesses (except for the Ojibwa Casinos) as well as leads new business efforts for potential new additions to the KBIC business portfolio.Implements, directs, oversee attainment of Tribal short and long-term economic development goals and priorities.Oversee, evaluates, coordinates preparation of business plans for new and expanded non-gaming KBIC Enterprise business opportunities and presents to the Tribal Council.Takes the lead role in all negotiations pertaining to mergers, joint ventures, the acquisition of additional businesses, or the sale of major assets with approval of the Tribal Council.Leads their respective KBIC Enterprise business managers in the identification of operational problems, putting into place policies and procedures to solve such problems, determining facility needs and is responsible for development and implementation of a short and long term business planning processes.Determines and authorizes staffing level requirements for qualified, well-trained personnel.Has full authority to hire, discipline, suspend, or terminate personnel as outlined in the Employment Manual, and ensure the efficient and productive performance of their tasks.Works with the Tribe’s administration, legal counsel, and other related parties to represent the organizations interests with external parties (federal, state, or local government bodies/agencies, private organizations) who undertake to adopt or amend legislation, regulation, or standards affecting non-gaming enterprises.Establishes an effective system of communication to maintain a constant flow of information downward, upward and laterally.Supervises the coordination and development of statistical data such as departmental budgets and develops a data base integrated with industry standard ratios and financial statements. Reviews records to administer budgets in attainment of profit objectives.Oversees the design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of non-gaming business products and services; including the adequacy and soundness of their financial structures.Plans and conducts market research to identify opportunities for increased sales and profitability.Provides monthly administrative reports to the Tribal Council.Compilation of all annual budgets for non-gaming KBIC Enterprise businesses.Performs all other job related duties as assigned by their supervisor.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1.
