Job Description : ****Sign On Bonus Available: $1,500 for Full time, $750 for part time****

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication, throughout the Hospital as assigned. This position reports to the Supervisor, Patient Transportation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Practicing safe lifting and techniques, transports patients by assisting patients in and out of cars, lifting patients on and off beds, moving patients to and from special services and treatment areas using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds.
2. Transports medications, patient charts, specimens, and blood appropriately as directed.
3. Transports bodies to the morgue and assists in placing them in the cooler. Assists in moving bodies to the autopsy table.
4. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities provided.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. A. Education / Training: Requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED.
B. Work Experience: Experience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment is desired. Requires successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training.
C. Certification, Licensure, Registration: Successful completion of the Healthcare Provider Course is required.
D. Other Qualifications:
Understands and demonstrates safe lifting and transport techniques.
Knows and practices Universal Precautions as appropriate.
Requires demonstrated communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy and professionalism in daily interaction with patients, their families, clinical licensed and non-licensed staff, physicians and management.
Ability to understand and follow directions, ability to comply with HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
Requires the ability to recognize if the patient is experiencing stress or other issues during transport and immediately seek assistance.
Requires the ability to organize and prioritize transports and other work.
Requires basic keyboarding skills and demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office software (MS Word), ability to become familiar with hospital information
