Job Description : Job DescriptionLegend Smelting & Recycling was founded in 1982 in Newark, Ohio. For nearly 40 years, we have been a preferred buyer and processor of Platinum Group Metals from spent Catalytic converters and Dealers/Brokers of Non-ferrous Metals. Our business is built on a history of dedication, integrity, loyalty and long standing customer relationships. LSR has locations across North America including Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and California.We have an opening for an Associate Buyer for our Portland, OR location. The Associate Buyer is responsible for travelling to salvage, recycling, and junk yards to purchase catalytic converters and non-ferrous metals. This individual also must exude their salesmanship skills through excellent communication and customer services skills, to solicit new business prospects. Upon purchases the Associate Buyer is responsible for loading and unloading all purchased units and transporting all those units back to the local hub..LSR offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes Medical, Dental, Vision and Supplemental insurance.All candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and meet required background check criteria.Duties: Communicate and coordinate your catalytic converter buys with salvage yard Managers, Owners, Core Buyers and Brokers utilizing LSR’s Converter Database.Manage and secure the daily inventory purchased. Perform onsite audits and adhere to control processes for inventory accuracy.Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations in order to purchase materials for compliance purposesOther duties and responsibilities, as assigned by a Manager, which may include: general warehouse duties, coordinating shipping arrangements, inventory weigh-in reports/logs, train new buyers.This position may require some overnight stays based on the customers location.Education/Qualifications: Minimum High School Diploma or GED is requiredMinimum Age 21 yearsValid Driver’s License with a Clean Driving RecordMust be able to pass successful pre-employment screenings: background check, drug screen, MVR, and credit check.Solid Communication and Customer Service SkillsPrevious Sales experience is highly preferred but not requiredPrevious purchasing experience is preferred but not requiredPrior Metals experience is not required, but previous experience is a plusMust be proficient in MS OfficePossible overnight StaysPhysical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs., moderate to intense physical activityRepetitive movements-Bending, stretching, stooping, twisting, crouching, tossing/throwing, liftingMust be able to sit for long periods of time while drivingJob Type: Full-timeJob Type: Full-timePay: $1,400.00 per weekBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible scheduleHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:10 hour shift12 hour shift8 hour shiftMonday to FridaySupplemental Pay:Bonus payExperience:Procurement: 1 year (Preferred)Purchasing: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location: One location
