Job Description : SUMMARY: Provides instructional leadership to staff. Supervises and evaluates certified and non-certified staff. Establishes expectations for student attendance, conduct and learning performance. Responsible for building administration and the safety and welfare of students and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(other duties may be assigned)

Communicates effectively with classified, certified and administrative staff.
Communicates effectively with students, parents and the public.
Works effectively with the Assistant High School Principal in all facets of the high school operation.
Supervises staff according to district expectations/guidelines.
Completes formal evaluations of certified and non-certified staff according to district policy/procedure.
Provides educational leadership in creating a school environment conducive to teaching and learning.
Supervises curricular programs and manages their review, evaluation and improvement.
Conducts staff, student and public meetings as needed/required according to district policy and/or practice.
Develops and manages the budget, as assigned, for the high school.
Supervises the development of the master schedule for course offerings and class size.
Works with central administration in the assignment of staff within the high school program/building.
Completes all required reports according to local, state and federal requirements.
Develops, implements and monitors a fair and consistent student discipline
system.
Prepares and implements teacher, student and parent handbooks.
Oversees purchase and distribution of educational supplies and materials.
Interprets and administers policies, rules and regulations as established by state and local authorities.
Supervises and attends, in conjunction with Assistant Principal and Activities Director, all high school related after school activities.
Provides general supervision of high school building and grounds, including maintenance and security.
Communicates and coordinates programs with the Middle School and Central Administration.
Collaborates with and serves as administrator on PAT.
Supervise Dual Credit Program.
Administers Alternative High School and Driver’s Education programs.
Manages Federal and state grants pertinent to the high school.
Serves on district wide committees as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
Serves as building level supervisor of the Special Education program at the high school.
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise all certified and non-certified staff and students within the high school environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Montana Class 3 (5-12 or K-12) Certificate, Master’s Degree and administrative experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Montana Class 3 Principal’s Endorsement required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, administrators, Board of Trustees, parents and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a personal computer and mainframe. Ability to apply current research and theory in areas of responsibility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, school administration and the general public. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Trustees policies.
