PURPOSE OF POSITION: Works collaboratively as part of the clinical team to provide non-clinical assistance for patients, providers, and other staff members in a medical clinic. Provides support by ensuring that all necessary information is gathered during pre-visit planning, assists with scheduling checkouts in exam rooms, may assist with lab and sterilization support, and multiple administrative tasks needed by the team. May serve as backup to Registration and Scheduling at the front desk.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to talk and hear while performing duties of this position. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. Requires the ability to distinguish letters, symbols and colors. Requires the use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, telephones, fax machines, and photocopiers. Requires working under stressful conditions.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Involves frequent contact with clinicians, employees, patients, and the public. Although a safety-first work environment, employees in this position have potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work may involve both indoor and outdoor work.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Pre-visit planning to include printing Pre-Visit Planning Tool for each patient, collecting appropriate outside records for in-patient or ER follow-ups, and review for quality metric gaps
Exam room duties to include scheduling follow-up appointments and assisting with cleaning and stocking exam rooms.
Performs or assists in the performance of basic clinical and/or laboratory procedures as appropriate to the activities of the clinic and non-certified status. May include administrative participation in vaccine clinic patient flow.
Back up as needed in the clinic to include registration and scheduling, autoclave sterilization processing, insurance verification.
Collects, verifies, records and maintains data on clinical activity; prepares associated reports as required.
Maintains patient confidentiality, follows HIPAA and all regulatory guidelines to stay within scope of role
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of common OSHA safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, physicians, and patients. Skill in attention to detail and follow through. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency and stressful situations. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the telephone. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to file and maintain patient records, files, reports, and other correspondence. Ability to work quickly and with accuracy to support a high volume flow of patients and tasks. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, patients, and co-workers. Must be a flexible, quick learner.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: At least 1-2 years of experience in registration, scheduling, or front desk in a medical setting and general clerical/administrative experience required. Experience with medical terminology preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: None required. Successful candidates will have an interest in pursuing growth as part of a dynamic clinical team.
