Performs reception duties and data entry. Operates computer, calculator, transcription equipment or other standard office equipment or the taking of machine dictation.Principal DutiesAn employee in this classification may perform any of the following duties. However, these examples do not include all the specific tasks which an employee may be expected to perform.Types forms, reports, correspondence, requisitions and other materials, inputs data, proofreads documents.May dictate information or take minutes and agendas.Sorts and files materials alphabetically, numerically and by other predetermined categories.Removes materials from files upon request and keeps records of materials removed.Acts as receptionist, answers telephone or routes visitors and calls. Secures and provides routine information. May interpret basic regulations and policies.Answers routine inquiries from the public.Gives out general information, forms and documents.Refers callers to proper sources and makes appointments.Posts information to various departmental fiscal, billing, or other records according to standard procedures.Prepares reports involving tabulations of data using simple arithmetical calculations.Performs related duties as required.Education, Experience and TrainingGraduation from high school or possession of the equivalent GED certificate. One year of experience in office or related clerical work involving the use of the computer supplemented by courses in typing and demonstrated skill in typing; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.Supplemental Information** A cover letter and résumé are required. Benefits are available to regular status employees working 20 or more hours per week.Part time employees receive pro-rated benefits.Benefits will vary according to bargaining unit.Temporary employees are not eligible for benefits.Health Insurance (medical, dental, Rx and vision): We offer Kaiser Permanente and PacificSource. Coverage varies according to bargaining unit. Employee share of the premium will vary according to bargaining unit and full-time or part-time status.Paid Leave: Vacation: New full-time employees generally earn 12 vacation days per year; this increases with years of service. Part-time employees earn a pro-rated amount.Holidays: A generous number of paid holidays annually. This will vary according to bargaining unit.Personal Leave Days: These are floating holidays. The number of Personal Leave Days varies according to bargaining unit.Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (pro-rated for part time) with no maximum accrual.Other Leaves: Jury duty, bereavement, military.Retirement: We participate in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). Polk County picks up the employee’s share of the retirement contribution (6% of wages.)
