Position : Safety Officer
Job Description : JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for administering and monitoring all safety programs and practices for WRC, including safety plans, OSHA compliance, workplace inspections, safety committee, training and other workplace safety functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ensure customer service standards through prompt, efficient, professional and friendly service.
Responsible for workplace safety and compliance, to include; OSHA rules and regulations, SDS master file/sheets, safety plans – blood borne pathogens, hazard Communication, general safety, ergonomics and food handlers plans, and additional training programs as needed.
Facilitate regular safety property reviews, personally or with Safety Committee, and provide written documentation of findings to department head and management.
Coordinate with Security on accurate and detailed reporting systems to ensure that injury reports are processed thoroughly and accurately.
Obtain/maintain relevant certifications and skills through regular training.
Work closely with HR Benefits and Purchasing Manager to monitor injury/illness reports from employees or guests, monitoring type of injury/illness and preventative steps to alleviate risk.
Coordinate with HR Benefits to work with department heads to identify safety hazards and develop/implement training programs that reduce workplace safety risks and liabilities.
Work closely with Facility Maintenance on environmental concerns, including air quality concerns, structural hazards, OSHA compliance, reducing safety risks to guest/employees, etc.
Analyze claims for safety risks or high claims cost areas and address those risks appropriately with the department head and WRC management.
Chair the Safety Committee, facilitating regular meetings and safety reviews. Maintain detailed records of committee actions and provide reports on findings, requests and recommendations.
Plan for safety training needs, providing directly or coordinating through other resources, including HR Training and Development.
Responsible for coordinating and ensuring successful passing of the annual safety inspections and certificates of occupancy.
Shall facilitate and prepare response for Director to any OSHA complaints, notices, on site visits/inspections, etc.
Keep Director apprised of safety activities, issues and/or concern areas.
Other related functions as assigned or directed.
