Job Description : JOB GRADE 109, 40 hr/wk

SUMMARY: Is responsible for the accounting of all financial transactions associated with High School Student Activity Funds/Student Store. Supervises and provides direction for the general retail management of the Student Store.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains a cooperative relationship with fellow staff members, students and the general public.
Adheres to and enforces district, state, and federal laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Full charge bookkeeper for student body funds, which includes all club, classroom, activity funds, reimbursables, gate receipts, and student store.
Prepares all financial and statistical reports as may be required.
Submits records, in appropriate format, as may be required for audit purposes.
Manages and maintains the Student Store in a profitable manner.
Maintain office files and records, including inventory.
Provides budget and forecasting information.
Reconciles bank statements and verifies bank balance with statements and general ledger balances.
Monitors and maintains an adequate cash flow.
Keeps Principal apprised of any potential deficit expenditures in various accounts.
Assists with beginning of year registration.
Invests, in accordance with district policies, surplus cash requirements.
Provides support to students and faculty advisors in fund administration.
Assigns and supervises student helpers.
Provides support services to students in locker assignments, student body cards, and gradation items.
Oversees all fundraising requests and tracks income and expenses.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises student helpers.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training students; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prefer experience as a full charge bookkeeper or equivalent experience/training in accounting.
Prefer experience that includes cash handling duties.
Prefer general retail management experience/training.
Demonstrated competence in the use of computer and office machines.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, tact and diplomacy.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board deems appropriate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Previous work in child care. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
