The position consists of: approximately 70 % working directly with growers to solve crop problems (via phone, email, webinar, conferences, virtual meetings, research, field trials, literature reviews, and experimentation) 20% execution of various aspects of the sales process (CRM software, SOP’s for incoming/outgoing products, meeting with team members) and 10% research and development of the techniques and tools that lead to a refinement of that process.Day to day tasks include interpreting lab and field data to make appropriate recommendations to solve crop performance, weed, insect, disease or other crop problems. Interfacing with growers, assisting with new client development, recommending the implementation of Apical methods, techniques, products and tools to solve complex agricultural problems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment to rapidly implement the best available approaches in the marketplace to help growers achieve success in organic/biological crop production.Successful candidates will have relevant academic background, production agricultural experience in an organic or ecological growing environment, and (preferably) consulting experience.Alternately, an advanced agricultural degree (MS/PHD) in a relevant area (Sustainable Agronomy, Organic Crop Production, Plant Biology, etc) with experience with a relevant position in the agriculture industry.Essential skills include, ability to follow company processes, provide support to growers in complex agricultural recommendations, infer properly from concise instructions, convey lab results to the grower, communicate professionally and clearly with necessary laboratory/office contacts, follow established processes and procedures when translating lab results into crop performance advice.Assist in the growth of the business and development of new clients, processes and time saving systems that are scalable, robust and valuable to the business’s future. Experience with computer skills is essential, Apical’s database, E-commerce, social media platforms, academic journal and other platforms such as Google Drive are used daily.Enthusiasm/experience and/or interest in the company’s mission is a prerequisite.
