Job Description : Assistant PrincipalThis is a remote position but requires Michigan residency!Summary/ObjectiveThe Assistant Principal will assist the Principal and/or Superintendent with providing leadership and building a structure of collaborative relationships within the school community so that all students have an opportunity to succeed.Essential FunctionsAssists the principal in the development, implementation, and evaluation of efforts related to student academic achievement and ensuring that the school meets or exceeds district goals and standards. Propose and support efforts and practices to improve academic achievement.Provides instructional leadership and coaching for school staff.Identifies, implements, and monitors school-wide strategies to assist all students.Maintains clear communication with staff, students and families to ensure student success.Participates in activities to enhance professional development.Evaluate curriculum, teaching methods and programs to determine their effectiveness, and to ensure that the school activities comply with federal, state and local regulations.Observe teaching methods and examine learning materials to evaluate effectiveness and determine areas for improvement.Counsel and provide guidance to students as necessary.Attend and proctor state assessments.Organize school events and assemblies.Lead attendance intervention and behavior conferences with families; monitor outcomes of conferences.Work with student behaviors, detentions, and suspensions as necessary.Creates systems to track student behaviors, both positive and negative. Analyze this data at least 2 times per year.Provide robust overview of school-level data to Superintendent and leadership team 1 time per month.Train and support new staff through a robust orientation and series of trainings.Attend and participate in interviews.Support student engagement efforts and advisory model.Oversee alternative graduation pathway.Provide robust parent and student live orientations and Question/Answer sessions.Support and monitor progress towards School Improvement Goals.Support enrollment and retention efforts.Oversee and monitor Parent-Teacher Conferences.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position supervises all school staff, in conjunction with Principal.CompetenciesCommunication ProficiencyDiscretion/ConfidentialityCollaboration SkillsEthical ConductPublic SpeakingOrganizational SkillsStrong Leadership SkillsPerformance ManagementCrisis ManagementAbility to coach and inspireGreat presentation and tact, communication skillsAttention to Detail & follow-up skillsKnowledge of administrative processes and Michigan education standardsScheduleThis role requires work between 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday and additional hours as needed. This is a full time, salary position that requires 40 hours plus, if necessary to complete required tasks. This is a remote position but the hours are not flexible.Work EnvironmentThe work environment for this position is a virtual and professional home office.
