Responsibilities*
Stocking barriers, cubicles, and maintaining gown bags and hangers. Clean, stock and organize the laboratory. Direct the undergraduate students on how to use the lab equipment and what materials we have available for them.
Provide assistance to undergraduate by teaching them proper PPE, cubicle disinfectant procedures, barrier placement, assisting technique, along with material and equipment identification and proper usage instructions.
Assist with maintaining the clinic by cleaning and flushing the HVE/SVE lines, changing the traps, flushing the DI water system, shocking the water lines and quarterly deep cleaning.
Assisting guest services with greeting, guiding and screening those entering the building.
Assist with infection co tell monitoring of faculty, student and staff. Assist with quality assurance processes in clinics. Assist with dispensing as needed.
Teaching students proper PPE practices, infection control, assisting techniques and material/equipment identification
Required Qualifications*
Previous experience as a dental assistant.
Some knowledge of dental materials, dental instruments and dental equipment.
Some knowledge of blood borne pathogens standard and basic principles of infection control. Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity that includes moving and transporting objects; assuming postures to access patients, equipment, and instruments; and manual dexterity movements.
Ability to follow instructions from supervisor. Excellent customer skills including the ability to anticipate needs of student dentists in clinic for instruments, equipment and commodities for dental procedures performed in clinic. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent ability to multitask. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent attendance record.
Desired Qualifications*
A certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program. BLS certification.
Work Locations
This position is for the School of Dentistry located at 1011 N University.
