Position : Laboratory Tech. Assistant Manager

Job Description : I.General Summary:
Provide guidance and direction to the Technician team. Maintain corporate equipment in accordance with requirements. Develop and monitor equipment testing schedules and delegate duties to junior technicians. Monitor processes and materials. Evaluate machinery information to ensure conformity to industry standards.

II.Essential Job Functions:
A.Develop and maintain the lab schedule to execute Engineering team’s evaluation requests timely and accurately.
B.Interface with customers and suppliers and provide feedback to team and management.
C.Provide leadership through experiences and expertise while working cooperatively in a team environment to execute the technical elements of a project.
D.Apply problem solving techniques and adhere to procedures to enable quality completion of all project deliverables.
E.Establish strong 5S principals within the technician team and Evaluation department.
F.Establish and maintain ISO17025 accreditation of the laboratory.
G.Monitor, track and improve lab efficiency of equipment and manpower.
H.Maintain serviceability of all testing equipment and tools.

III.Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.

Experience:
Greater than 5 years experience supporting engineering and automotive testing, or other relevant experience required.At least 2 years’ experience as a supervisor or manager preferred.

Personal/Technical Skills:
Good visionDeductive reasoning abilityPerform data analysis, best practices and hand calculations accuratelyExcellent presentation skillsAble to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.Must be able to multi task, handle diversity, and provide leadership through problem resolution.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong leadership ability are required.Understanding of basic engineering calculations, cost analysis, and an understanding of basic accounting.Must have strong organizational, planning, and people skills.Active listener with effective communication skills.Ability to work in a team environment to support demanding automotive customer requirements.Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization.Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports and graphs.Effective time management skills.

Language Skills:
Exceptional communication skills ( written and verbal) in English requiredJapanese, German, Portuguese, and/or Spanish preferred.

Computer/Software:
Microsoft Office Products
IV.Work Environment/Conditions:

Office: Open Office Environment

Plant: Laboratory Environment

Travel: 10%
V.Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing and is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
