Department of Revenue is recruiting for multiple Taxpayer Services Front Desk Associates (Administrative Specialist 1) positions! We are looking for trustworthy, detail-oriented individuals to join our Payment Center in our Compliance section. These positions are headquartered in our Salem office and are in-office positions.
These are SEIU-represented positions. This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies as they occur.

What You Will Be Doing
Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.
Provide assistance to the public and other employees face to face at the Department of Revenue’s Payment Center
Perform and coordinate administrative tasks in support of division and agency operations
Receive and Verify Tax Payments
Provide prompt and courteous assistance to taxpayers or their representatives
Answers questions on rules, laws, policies, and procedures for department-administered tax programs
Facilitate the secure visitation of individuals into secured areas.

Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 25-35 pounds
Regular work in secured and monitored areas
Handle large sums of money with possible odor (gloves and aprons are provided by the agency)
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Frequent face-to-face and telephone communication with others both within the agency and with the public
Teleworking is not applicable to this position, this position is 100% in the office
Office environment with exposure to printer noise and cash counting machine noise
Extensive use of cash counting machine and some use of personal computer
At times, may be subject to communication with hostile and irate taxpayers
This Is What You Need To Qualify

Three years of clerical/secretarial experience that included:
Two years at a full performance level performing typing, word processing, or other generation of documents AND
Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
Courses or training in Office Occupations or Office Technology may be substituted for up to one year of the clerical/secretarial experience.
No substitution will be made for the two years at the full performance level.
The original Support Services Skill Code Sheet may be used for classes 0107, 0112, 0118, and 0805.
The State of Oregon requires all executive branch employees to complete their COVID-19 vaccination series or have an approved exception to the requirement due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
Experience in banking and/or large volume cash handling experience.
Experience in high volume production environment
Experience exercising discretion regarding program or funds received.
The ability to provide consistently excellent customer service
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Experience explaining rules, laws, and policies to others
Preference may be given to bilingual applicants
