The Manager of Internal Communication will lead a team of Communications and Web Content Specialists to develop and implement a robust and comprehensive internal communications strategy that inspires and connects everyone within the organization to the greater purpose and culture of Credit Acceptance. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, this position will build practices, cadences and content that is meaningful, memorable, and actionable and informs and engages all team members.
Outcomes and Activities:
This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at an office location if requested by the team member.
Content Development and Strategy
Develop and oversee strategic communication plans and content for large-scale, organization-wide initiatives.
Oversee the internal communications content calendar with an organization-wide focus to ensure team members are informed and connected with key business initiatives.
Manage multi-faceted communication plans with a focus on driving consistent messaging across multiple internal communications channels.
Create and edit content that engages and excites team members and creates meaningful connections with leadership.
Oversee large-scale internal meetings for the executive team to include agenda creation, content/presentation development, ghostwriting communications such as talking points and scripts.
Leverage analytics to guide content strategy and pivot plans as needed to ensure objectives are met and exceeded.
Align internal communications timing and content with external communications where appropriate by creating strong relationships with marketing and business leaders.
Builds Strong Relationships Throughout the Organization
Build, develop and grow business relationships with partners across the organization fostering support for internal communication strategies and gathering feedback.
Collaborate with leaders and business partners to stay constantly in-the-know on Company initiatives.
Set and oversee communication project expectations with business owners, team members and other stakeholders.
Leverage feedback from internal partners to inform potential changes in strategy.
Management
Manage the Internal Communications Team with a strong focus on guiding team members to perform at their best.
Create an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications.
Create an open, honest and supportive team environment where all team members champion the success of one another.
Oversee team projects to ensure the work is being completed in alignment with objectives while also empowering team members to own their work.
Review and edit content with a strong focus on cultural alignment and AP Style.
Develop team through coaching, assessing performance and providing effective performance feedback, and establishing performance and development plans.
Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and develop a Communications team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate at all levels.
Solution-oriented problem solver.
Ability to understand, interpret and act on information promptly and effectively.
Self-driven, motivated to help, and able to perform with minimal supervision in a team environment.
Effective prioritization and decision-making skills.
Open and receptive to feedback aimed at improving performance.
Positive, professional, determined, calm and focused when faced with challenging situations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of experience in a Marketing or Communications role, including experience developing and executing communication strategies.
Proven leadership skills with 3+ years of experience managing a high-performing team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Professional.
Knowledge and experience using AP writing format.
Ability to travel to meet business needs.
Targeted Compensation: $124,000 – $155,000 + an annual bonus plan
