Pay Range: $65,000 – $70,000+
Summary:

Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer and in compliance with established policies, procedures and practices, works with a team to perform a variety of tasks related to payroll for Hartland Consolidated Schools.
Position Responsibilities:

Reconcile and process payroll for all district employees on a bi-weekly basis following the payroll processing checklist
Process any changes to wages or deductions as needed for salary adjustments, garnishments, benefit changes, etc.
Review hourly time entry report for accuracy and work with various departments to correct any discrepancies
Prepare and reconcile all Federal and State payroll tax deposits
Process direct deposit and provide payroll transfer information by applicable deadline
Upload, process, and reconcile bi-weekly payroll information to the ORS system, ensuring each payroll is in balance and payment is made timely
Maintain an efficient system to ensure accurate payroll processing and timely reporting deadlines
Create annual payroll calendar and corresponding schedule of time sheet deadlines
Calculate and process step/schedule changes, longevity payments, sick/vacation pay-outs, and severance payments in accordance with employee contracts
Understand various provisions within employee contracts related to payroll in order to properly process special payments and help answer employee questions
Ensure all applicable reporting required by the state, county, and federal agencies is completed timely and accurately, including but not limited to 941’s, UIA reporting, State of MI form 5080, and year-end W-2’s
Qualifications:

The position requires an Associate’s Degree in business or related technical field
Three (3) – Five (5) years of successful experience processing payroll
School district payroll experience preferred
Experience in Wayne RESA’s SMART program is preferred
Experience with Google applications
Microsoft Word and Excel is required
MSBO Payroll Certification is a plus
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities (SKA) Required:

Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work with confidential and highly sensitive information
Ability to use the systems provided to process all aspects of payroll
