Job Description : Part-time Telephone InterviewerAs a telephone interviewer you will help scientists collect high quality data that is used to bring the attitudes and behavior of people all across the country into clearer focus. You will be part of a team conducting high quality social science data collection in the public interest. Telephone interviewers work in our centralized telephone facility on the University of Michigan’s central campus in Ann Arbor. As an interviewer you will work in a telephone carrel for 4 hour shifts making calls for at least 16 hours per week. You will make 15-16 calls per hour, on average, engaging participants, answering their questions and explaining study goals. You will document your work after each call. To thrive in this position you must be self-motivated, detailed orientated, able to quickly engage people and establish trust, and be comfortable using a computer. There is no experience needed, we will teach you everything you need to know.Here’s what we get asked most often.$17.50/hour base pay rate and a $300 retention incentive after 3 months$2/hour differential for certified English/Spanish bilingual interviewers (bilingual not required)Paid training, both online and in-personCoaching and mentoring to help you flourishYou must live within commuting distance to the Ann Arbor campusExcellent candidates will enjoy working with a diverse group of people, conducting telephone interviews. Work schedules are set 4 weeks at a time. You will have a great deal of flexibility over your schedule, working up to 16 hours per week with some required evenings and weekend shifts. Interviewers are expected to follow all data collection protocols, read questions exactly as written, and record responses accurately using a computer. You will be comfortable answering questions about the studies and explaining why this research is so important.COVID-19 vaccinations are now required for all University of Michigan students, faculty and staff across all three campuses, including Michigan Medicine.
