Summary
Professors Betsey Stevenson and Luke Shaefer through Poverty Solutions at the University of Michigan are looking for a data and policy analyst to support research projects focused on understanding the effects of the expanded safety net during the pandemic on the well-being of people and families and the impact of both the pandemic and the policy responses to the pandemic on the U.S. labor market.
You will serve as an analyst, research, and project manager for a research agenda centered around the ongoing U.S. recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, with the goal of communicating to the American public and federal policymakers the details of these stories, and how they should inform policies that guide our economic recovery and support the long-term financial stability of U.S. households.
You will help produce a series of research briefs that document what is learned about poverty, hardship, and the U.S. labor market during the Covid-19 pandemic; using data analysis to better understand how U.S. household and the U.S. labor market have fared, and outlining paths for future policy action.
Here are a sample of questions this research seeks to address:
Which workers are exiting the labor market at elevated rates?
How will the labor force participation rate among mothers change as the recovery continues?
What are potential strategies to address the labor shortage in certain industries?
