GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Technology Director manages, implements, supports and evaluates the integration of instructional technology into teaching and learning as well as the integration of operations technology into school support functions. Primary areas of focus include networking, hardware, software, managing technology staff, and projects, coordinating and providing user support, and developing and facilitating professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s degree preferred
Five years of experience in a technology-related field; experience in an educational setting preferred
Outstanding oral and written communication skills across a wide variety of audiences, including students, parents, and staff
Leadership skills and experience working with a team to solve problems and manage projects
Excellent organizational skills that allow for effective management of multiple projects
Ability to use computer equipment for word processing, data management, and retrieval, audio/visual presentations, telecommunications, and networking
Demonstrated ability to support technology-based systems, including hardware software, especially as they relate to an educational setting
Demonstrated ability to install, configure, repair, and maintain networked macOS and ChromeOS devices, their operating systems, peripherals, and cables
Demonstrated ability to work cohesively and collaborate with staff and Board Members
Proven ability to respect confidentiality in the workplace and maintain office professionalism
Background and criminal history clearance through the Oregon Department of Education
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Possess knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibility
Maintain District-wide computer, network, and VoIP phone systems
Support District-wide software applications including Google Workspace for Education, Synergy, Infinite Visions, Jamf Pro, and Blackboard
Supervise, train, and meet regularly with Riverdale and contracted technology staff
Monitor and maintain computer hardware used for instruction and operations
Manage the Help Desk ticketing system
Coordinate repair and refresh of computer and network hardware
Interface with Cascade Technology Alliance staff to coordinate support, plan for maintenance, and upgrades to systems
Develop/maintain inventories of computer hardware, software, phone, and A/V equipment
Coordinate the technology-related aspects of onboarding new staff, including deploying computer hardware, account creation, and training
Coordinate technology-focused professional development resources for staff
Promote the integration of technology into the instructional program
Develop and monitor annual technology budgets, working with principals, district office staff, and the Superintendent to identify technology-related needs and expenses
Assist the Business Office with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions related to technology expenses and revenue
Participate in professional development activities including those offered by local, state, and national organizations to stay abreast of emerging technologies
Serve as a technology resource for students, staff, and families by sharing knowledge and answering questions when appropriate
Analyze, diagnose, and resolve network, hardware, and software issues
Work effectively and collaboratively with diverse, non-technical staff both in the diagnosis of technology problems and the communication of solutions
Effectively communicate technology use procedures, including preventative measures as to correct technology-related problems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
A moderate degree of physical stamina with frequent lifting of 10 to 50 pounds. Ability to move freely to various locations within the classroom and other supervisory settings (cafeteria/playground). Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending. Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work. Exposure to noise and activity in a school setting. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
