The staff team embodies this mission and looks for ways to partner with members and work collaboratively to bring it to life.JOB SUMMARYAs a member of Multnomah Athletic Club’s Communications Team, the Communications Specialist plays an integral role in supporting communications efforts by drafting messaging, FAQs, talking points, staff newsletter content, PowerPoint presentations, and maintaining up-to-date content on the club’s intranet site. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the position is primarily responsible for supporting the work of the Communications Department with administrative duties and drafting content for deliverables. This role is tasked with helping to facilitate the member feedback process and will coordinate responses to members. The Communications Specialist will generate reports and collect data for department dashboards, process invoices and expense reports, coordinate meeting schedules, and a variety of other administrative tasks.The ideal candidate is someone interested in embarking on a career in communications. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate proficiency with digital applications, exhibit attention to detail, strong writing skills, and can operate successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.The Communications Department is a collaborative and team-oriented environment that works to inform, inspire, and promote club engagement to approximately 22,000 MAC members and more than 400 employees. This team is responsible for brand management, communications and marketing strategies, and internal communications. The team publishes a monthly member magazine and a high volume of digital content across multiple channels. Our goal is to provide strategic communications guidance and create engaging and timely information about the club’s programs, projects, activities, experiences, and services.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSManage member feedback process, ensuring timely and accurate responses, and compiling and providing data to other departments and Board leadership, including producing weekly and monthly reports.Complete assigned tasks in team project system (Asana) by scheduled due dates.Meet and collaborate with departmental representatives to understand communications support needs and drill down on details, confirming facts.Assist Communications Manager in drafting content, including emails, press releases, social media posts, website content, communication with members, FAQs, and more.Assemble content for regular staff newsletters, intranet, and committee and leadership briefing sheets.Create presentations and assemble materials for meetings, including team, committee, or partnership meetings.Administrative tasks such as processing invoices, scheduling, and manage a high volume of deliverablesOther duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS1. A degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field.2. Strong writing, editing, and verbal communications skills and familiarity with AP style.3. Comfortable, fluent, and proficient in the use of digital technology.4. Familiar with public relations or corporate communications in an organizational setting.5. Demonstrated ability to identify and assess the communication needs of priority audiences and determine the best communication methods and tools.6. Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills.7. Ability to consistently meet deadlines.8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).9. Experience in Sharepoint, Teams, and Asana preferred.COVID-19 considerations: Your health and safety are a top priority at the MAC. Additionally, all members, guests & staff are required to wear face masks and to maintain appropriate physical distancing where possible. Beginning October 1, 2021, all MAC employees must be fully vaccinated or have been approved for a legal exception. Fully vaccinated is defined as two weeks following receiving the second dose of a two-dose or one dose of a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination.
