***This posting is for two vacancies in Lansing, MI and Livonia, MI***
Apply all phases of the intelligence cycle to assist with criminal narcotics case support. Focus on providing assistance to the Marijuana and Tobacco Investigation Section (MTIS) with marihuana investigations related to the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act, Marihuana Tracking Act, and the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act. Conduct numerous database checks in support of LARA’s Marijuana Regulatory Agency pre-licensure assessments. Evaluate tip information obtained regarding possible criminal drug activity. Conduct thorough research of multiple suspects to provide the MTIS and other law enforcement entities investigative connections and additional investigative information. Utilize multiple database systems to obtain criminal information for all marihuana related cases. Disseminate reports to customer base following established guidelines, procedures, and protocols. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with analytic counterparts and law enforcement colleagues.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.

Experience

Departmental Analyst 9
No specific type or amount is required.

Departmental Analyst 10
One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Selective Position Requirement: The applicant, or individual occupying this position, must possess a minimum of one year of intelligence/investigative experience; or possess a bachelor’s degree in an intelligence analysis program and completion of an intelligence-related internship program.
Additional Requirements and Information
This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.

Leave Time

Full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation days per year. Paid Parental Leave

Provides eligible individuals up to 12 weeks of paid leave immediately following birth or adoption of a child.

Deferred Compensation

Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.

Retirement

Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC). New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible.
