Job Description : Location: Within the county of Powys (travel required to Newtown)Salary: Unpaid – volunteer positionHours: 4 board meetings per year, and up to 10-15 hours per month, dependant on charity requirementsReporting to: Chair of the Board of TrusteesOverviewAre you a senior finance professional looking to make a difference in your community?Are you interested in joining a passionate and ambitious mental health charity?We’re looking for a Treasurer who wants to join our motivated and enthusiastic Board of Trustees to support and develop the work of Rekindle.As Treasurer, you will also be responsible for managing all financial matters on behalf of Rekindle.Alongside your fellow Trustees, you will also be responsible for the overall governance, administration and strategic direction of Rekindle, including developing its aims, objectives and goals in accordance with relevant organisation and legal guidelines.About Rekindle: Rekindle Small Steps is a mental health charity based in Newtown, Powys that specialises in helping and supporting people aged 16 to 25 who are experiencing mental health problems. Young people at risk of mental health problems or those already suffering mental distress such as depression, anxiety or who are struggling to cope, are offered a range of early intervention and targeted actions.Key Responsibilities: · To oversee, approve and present all yearly budgets, quarterly and annual accounts and other relevant financial statements.· Review budgets, accounts, and financial statements in advance of Board meetings.· Present regular reports on the organisation’s financial position.· Advise fellow Trustees on a regular basis of the financial status of the charity, and where necessary, recommend action.· Ensure the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements with regards to financial matters.· Maintain sound financial management of the charity’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the agreed budget and investment activities meet accepted standards and policies.· To ensure the charity is carrying its purposes, as set out in its governing document.· To ensure the charity complies with its governing document, charity law and any other applicable laws.· To act in the charity’s best interests, making balanced and adequately informed decisions.· To contribute actively to the Board of Trustees in giving firm strategic direction, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets (including evaluating performance against set targets).· To provide guidance using previous experience and expertise on a range of aspects of Rekindle’s business, including support to set up new initiatives.· To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Organisation.· To monitor the financial, strategic and operational performance of RekindleSkills and experience: Essential· Practising senior finance professional (i.e. Accountant, Finance Manager, Finance Director)· AAT qualified· Highly numerate and financially aware· Ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board· Experience of business planning· Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Excel· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.· Willingness to commit sufficient time to the trustee role· Eligible to be a TrusteeDesirable· Experience working in the charity sector· Previous member of an executive boardPart-time hours: 3 per weekJob Types: Part-time, PermanentApplication question(s):Are you AAT qualified?Experience:Accounting: 5 years (preferred)Work remotely:Yes
