Job Description

Cross-border remittances and new business models (e.g., gig economy) require the ability to deploy rapid, frequent payouts. We are building a Technology Platform that will enable fast and ubiquitous push payments across a range of domestic and cross border use cases aiming to capture significant revenue opportunity across P2P, B2SB, and B2C flows and value-added services. Built on the latest standards/tech stack and providing open APIs, this platform will help drive innovation in the entire ecosystem.

As we embark on the journey to enhance the Visa Direct Payout Services technology platforms, we are looking for a Chief Software Engineer who can be a key technology leader and provide oversight in building the next generation payments platform for moving funds across various account types (cards, bank accounts, wallets) as well as providing value added services based on local market needs.
The role involves extensive hands-on activities. Here are key job responsibilities –
Understand the Payments industry and where Visa Direct Payout Services fits in the payment’s ecosystem
Understand the business initiatives and their importance to the growth of Visa Direct Payout Services.
Develop a good understanding of the Visa Direct Payout Services technology platforms and the 3 rails of money movement – cards, accounts and wallets.
Provide Architectural leadership, technical vision, leadership in execution of projects for Visa Direct Payout Services.
Apply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, keeping in mind security, performance, reliability, scalability, usability, flexibility, and cost. – Essentially define and drive technology standard and best practices for this product development organization
Develop and maintain architectural roadmap for products and services while ensuring alignment with the business and enterprise architecture strategies and standards. Able to develop, present and explain the value and vision of proposed architectures and solutions to a wide range of audience.
Develop strategies to meet business objectives with existing or emerging technologies and articulate technology solutions as well as explain the competitive advantages of various technology alternatives keeping in mind the platforms’ needs of security, high scalability (throughput of over 3000 tps) and six nines of availability.
Build relationships with key architects across technology organizations and collaborate on promoting architectural best practices across technology.
Have governance model in place that provides a feedback loop on whether architecture artifacts implemented adhere to original design. Drive engineering best practices and operational best practices across the organization to achieve the same.
Drive internal proof of concept initiatives. When needed, quickly design and implement a prototype of a system or component with a proper architecture, and then hand over or lead a small group of developers to finish.
Represent the Visa Direct Payout Services within the business unit and across the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 16+ years of Software Development Experience or a Masters with a minimum of 14+ years of Software Development Experience.Led and delivered complex projects where complexity is a function of a combination of these factors – domain knowledge, distributed architecture, technical stack, influencing and collaborating with multiple technology partners and business partnersExtensive experience on architecture design of large-scale platforms and applicationStrong understanding and working experience in Distributed Web Architecture – should have experience with service registry, container architecture, distributed caching, streaming apps, NoSQL and RDBMSHands-on understanding of architecture and operations of highly available and scalable web serviceExpertise with the Java 8 platform or higher, Spring, Vertx, Akka framework or similar
Experience in building Microservices, specifically with HTTP, REST, JSON and XMLExperience in Advanced Java Script or Angular or ReactSound understanding of Service and IT operations management and DevOps model, good knowledge of deployment and capacity planningStrong understanding of Enterprise Integrations using web services and RESTUnderstand the Security requirements and standards and contemporary trends in Security risks as well as technologiesExperience with agile development processExperience in the Payment domain is a plus.
