Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for Firmware professional working on Z systems ( IBM Advanced Mainframes ) and we build the most secure systems for our customers to deploy their enterprise applications. IBM z Systems are deployed with workloads where intensive IO Operations are getting executed. IBM Lab works on IO enablement firmware as well as boot firmware for z Servers. Work area would be Initial program load that is Boot firmware which enables the z Systems to boot and load supported Operating systems( Linux, zOS, zVM ) on Logical partitions.

As individual developer
Design/Develop firmware which supports initial load program of z Systems and IO subsystem enablement for IO intensive workload running on zSystems.
Design/Develop Initial load programm consists of IO configuration, Processor configuration and Memory configuration to suit the system to run various Operating systems.
Design/Develop Storage and networking emulators/Test vehicles to verify and validate IO support protocols like Fibre channel protocol, FICON protocol.
Design/Develop IBM proprietary protocols like zHyperlink – used to communicate to IBM Storage servers, Test Vehicle to emulate the Storage side of it.
Design/Develop/Debug IO simulation environment used to design/develop IO firmware early in the program, which is Linux OS interacting with early hardware models, QEMU simulation models and Firmware code.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

3-5 years of experience in
Must Have :
Expertise in Firmware development, Linux Systems programming knowledge, Use and debug code written in C/C++ on Linux environment. Object Oriented programming languages C++ and C language. Assembly/low level language programming and debugging skills.
Linux Contianer environment
Basic knowledge in Linux development environment GitHUB, CI/CD, Agile methodology
Good communication skills and be able to work effectively in a global team environment.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Z Systems experience, Linux Contianer environment. Prior experience / exposure to Storage and Networking and PCIe protocol.
