Job Description : Overview:
ViaPath is searching for a Senior QA Engineer who has experience with web and mobile technologies to join our education technology
engineering team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who loves experimentation with a proven track record working with mobile
devices and wireless technologies, web technologies, test automation, CI/CD pipelines and more. The candidate will be comfortable
working with mobile devices, chromebooks, learning management systems, content and digital asset management systems in the
EdTech space. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diversified cross functional team will be required to succeed.
The primary function of this role will be to lead the EdTech test automation and QA practice in support of ViaPath Education initiatives.
This role will support content and media delivery and integrations within our EdTech ecosystem of chromebooks, laptops, tablet products
and services, learning management systems as well as other education content and media resources.
Responsibilities:
Offers technical leadership to the team in a collaborative environment.Extends and improves test automation frameworks.Leads new designs and solutions while quickly learning new technologies and patterns.Creates strategic test plans that ensure performance and stability of products and services.Verify Education mobile app support on ViaPath custom Android OS tablets
Collaborates with tablet product and mobile QA engineeringSupport and maintain QA labSupport warehouse staff with Education program equipment inventory.Work with device vendors to track and resolve issues found during testing.Collaborate with Network architects to create test plans, proof of concept trials.Mentors and directs more junior engineers in best practices and increased levels of responsibility.Conduct new tech stack evaluation and testing for continuous improvement in product and service quality.Partners with the Networking and DevOps teams to establish strategies to improve our education product experience, network design and performance as well as automation techniquesCreates software components to drive automated testing scenarios in ways that are efficient in execution, and expandable in structure using ViaPath’s automation framework.Designs, develops and executes both automated and manual test scripts from the ground-up, that verify software programs function as specified in requirements and supporting documentation.
Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, screens, and content in company bug tracking software.
Creates output/reports that will effectively and accurately document all automated testing results.
Manages the continuous development of the QA Team’s standard practices and procedures.
Proactively responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operations of software programs.
Meet or exceed individual objectives, delivery deadlines, and product quality expectations.Utilizes tools to test products and services that implement APIs over JSON.Using TestRail, creates test plans and test cases from requirement documentation.Track defects and issues using Jira; keep product and test documentation updated in Confluence.Leverages SQL to effectively verify the results of testing in a data or document store.Uses effective communication flow among internal team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Network Engineering or related field5+ years of software engineering experience with a passion for test automation work using Rails, Appium, Selenium or Java based test automation frameworks
Experience flashing and testing mobile devices and ROMs.Experience working with mobile device hardware inventory and parts liaising with warehouse staff.Experience working with flashing and recovering Android devices and ROMs.Experience working with Android, Linux and Windows OS.Experience working with servers, routers, switches, wireless equipment and other network related equipment.Familiar with basic, industry measurement devices and systems related to product testing.
Preferred experience with testing mobile devices, wireless or RF Networks, Cellular communications technology, RF test equipment, network throughput, etc.Preferred experience with test management and automation tools, technologies such as Appium, TestRail, Selenium or equivalent frameworks/tools, and test script development practices.Preferred technical experience with Android mobile applications, libraries and tools; Ruby on Rails, Java, RESTful APIs and SQL; API or Web Services testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, JMeter; Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins and GitLab.Understands and effectively practices development and quality assurance testing methodologies including functional and regression, implementing accuracy and thoroughness in all work products.Experience with JSON and API automation.
Experience on CI / CD integration.Familiar with basic, industry measurement devices and systems related to product testing.Expertise in the monitoring of performance KPIs for products, parts, process and servicing.Experience in Object Oriented Design and Programming, Design Patterns and related frameworks.Plus: Android SDK and/or NDK software development experiencePlus: Experience with ELK stack, AWS technologies, MQTTPlus: Experience with Content and Digital Asset Management systemsPlus: Experience with tools and technologies in the AI/ML domainExperience with collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
Demonstrated experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.Ability to work successfully in a team environment as well as working independently and deliver project deliverables on time.Ability to work under tight deadlines which may support off-hours testing, deployment, and maintenance as needed.Basic understanding of networking and network layer topologyDemonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems and identify best practices.Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to think creatively and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, support teams, clients, customers, and the public.
