We are looking to hire Assistant R&D Manager, Global Design Centre for our Home Care category based in Bangalore:
Unilever is market leader in Cleaning and Hygiene Products has been growing well over several years. GDC Home & Hygiene team in Bangalore is responsible for global design for Domestos, Cif and Living Hygiene brands, one of the fastest growing categories in Unilever and is at the heart of USLP. The team’s responsibilities span new product development, improving value equation of current products and managing specifications for product manufacturing/quality. The team is also responsible for driving programs to meet Unilever’s ambitious Clean Future Agenda.
The current job description is for an Assistant R&D Manager Position reporting into a Product Development Manager, GDC Home & Hygiene, Bangalore. The candidate will work in CIF and Living Hygiene brands within Global Design Home & Hygiene category based out on Bangalore. The responsibility of the position is to develop formulations that deliver cleaning and differentiated benefits. The key challenges to be addressed will be with respect to meeting the performance criteria within the cost brief, establish formulation robustness at lab &/or pilot scale, work with team to address processing issues & identifying patent opportunities. It would involve ensuring compliance to Internal Unilever protocols, external regulatory environment, while developing product solutions with respect to commitment to safety and environment.
Surface Cleaners is also expanding into Channels with product strategy designed for e-commerce, DIY stores and Unilever professionals. The candidate will also lead Unilever Professional interface for Cleaner brands, with the two main areas of responsibility being: project management and lab development related activities, carried out with high level of accountability and autonomy. It would require close collaboration with Home Care Unilever Professional R&D team and technology & format leaders in Surface Cleaners formulation team.
Roles and responsibilities
The candidate will work with team to develop new products or to enhance performance of existing products related to hard surface cleaning and hygiene to meet Home Care Clean Future Agenda
The candidate will champion Digital agenda for the Bangalore team and build Digital capability by partnering with digital team including development of digital skills for the formulation team (modelling and automation)
The candidate will lead Clean Future Cleaners product design fit for Unilever Professionals, to understand operator/cleaners needs and translate them into new product ideas
Skills and experience
We are looking for a person with right attitude and competencies. Candidates with three or more years of experience in product development in S&T, GDC/CDC are preferred.
Education: Graduate degree in Chemical Engineering / Chemistry with First class
Background/Experience: Good fundamentals in chemical engineering &/or Chemistry, proficient with digital tools and data analysis
Technical skills: good understanding on surfactant science, formulation development
Soft skills: Teamwork, multi-tasking, good communication and writing skills, creativity, ability to analyse data and provide logical conclusions
