The Role:
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Educational Psychology is thriving and we’re happy to let you know that there is an opportunity for you to join us. As a successful service, with increasing demand for our traded and local authority work, we are growing and ready to appoint more educational psychologists.

EPs enjoy working in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight because of the variety of the work, the warm welcome we receive in our settings, and the relationships that we build. Whether you are looking for your first post or contemplating a change of work context, your career will flourish. We have a national reputation for innovation and there are many opportunities to work collaboratively. Our practice keeps children and families at the heart of what we do, whether through assessment approaches, consultation or person-centred planning. We continue to support the professional development of staff in schools and across the county.

Our EP colleagues wanted to highlight: “Opportunities come around to get involved in something new or different, so I’m always learning” and “HIEP is a team that embodies the positive psychology principles that are at the centre of our work, with colleagues and managers who are skilled, empathetic and supportive.”

We are commissioned by Children’s Services in both Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to undertake the educational psychology statutory duties for children and young people, aged 0-25. We also have a strong trading relationship with schools, academies and colleges enabling a wide range of supportive and preventive practice. We make a significant contribution to children’s social care working with adoptive families and offering consultation in residential children’s homes and training for staff.

If your application is successful, you will become a well-included member of one of HIEP’s four area teams, located in our local offices in Hampshire: Farnborough, Basingstoke, Winchester and Havant (including Isle of Wight). Our teams are key in maintaining our service culture and ethos and are an important focus for emotional support and professional development through sharing knowledge and experience.

Our conditions of service, including regular supervision, professional development, and dedicated administrative support, are exactly what you would expect of a local authority and a service that values people highly.

Applications are welcome from both experienced EPs registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and those in both their second and final year of training. HIEP is an organisation that is committed to inclusivity and diversity. We look forward to hearing from you.

In the words of one of newer EP colleagues, “As a new starter, I have received such a warm welcome to HIEP! My areas of special interest have been thoughtfully considered and as a result I have been offered interesting opportunities in project work and training.” And from a long-established team member, “I love working for HIEP because it is managed in an emotionally intelligent way, I have excellent colleagues and my work is based on creative problem-solving.”
