The purpose of this role is to manage and lead a team responsible for the production of monthly impairments results for the underlying portfolio
As part of this role the colleague will be required to:
Generate impairment actuals for the portfolio and explain drivers of impairmentsOwn the models used for impairment purposes for these portfolios, working with the QA function to ensure those models are accurately reflecting the credit risk that would emerge in a given economic and business scenarioEnsure appropriate governance and controls are in place for all key processes.Prioritise and manage multiple projects, some of which will be detailed and highly complex e.g. implementation of new models, calculation of post model adjustments, changes to regulatory parameters and the adherence to accounting standards for the production of impairment.Lead and direct analysts – direct reports as well as those within “virtual” teams.Ensure team produce outputs on a regular and timely basis as agreed with stakeholders.Identify opportunities to automate activities to improve efficiency and accuracy.Regular interaction with stakeholders across multiple teams and levels in the organisationRecruit, train and develop talent in the organization across technical, business and leadership.Interact with key stakeholders in Risk, Finance and Treasury to ensure the results produced by the team are well understood.
What will you be doing?
Produce impairment actuals and explains for the portfolioMaintain knowledge of current impairment policies and processesSustain operating rhythm across the data-processing-output flowBuild and maintain appropriate governance and controls are in place for processesCarry out analytics to support the response to regulatory requests, including stress tests and ad-hoc queriesManage and lead analysts in order to deliver team objectives ensuring output quality is in line with expected standards, presentation and content reviewed with senior managersClear and effective leadership and management of the team, operating with efficiency and pragmatism to help prioritization and workload distribution
What we’re looking for:
Analytical skills: problem structuring, hypothesis testing via data analysisData management/analysis skills, with experience in usage of widely known commercially and open-source available data processing softwareTeam working and stakeholder management across all levelsClear and concise communication to present results of analyses up to level of MD in the organizationProject management skills to ensure delivery across multitude of tasks, by enabling pragmatic prioritization across the team
Skills that will help you in the role:
Credit risk managementImpairment provisioning standards (IAS39, IFRS9)Forecasting, portfolio risk management, risk modelling technique knowledgeKnowledge of financial services industry and market
At VP level, the candidate will be required to demonstrate leadership skills through examples of analyses carried out under her/his guidance, as well as support prior team management experience.
