Role summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Finance team as an Interim Management Accountant for a 12-month fixed term contract (maternity cover). The is a key role in the finance team, reporting into the Head of Finance and leading our month end close process, year-end audit, statutory reporting and owning our finance systems.
Responsibilities:
Leading the month end management accounts process ensuring that all balance sheet reconciliations are prepared and that transactions are processed in an efficient, accurate and timely manner
Continual improvement of processes, reviewing all tasks performed by the team and unlocking efficiencies
Understanding and documenting all year-on-year variances to the management accounts for reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Directors and Board of Trustees
Responsible for the preparation of the London Marathon Charitable trust monthly management accounts and partnering with the trust on day-to-day finance matters
Managing the year end audit process; principal point of contact for the external auditors and responsible for the preparation of the year end accounts for LME, LMCT and LSCP
Responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of our accounting system (Sage 200) and other finance IT applications in collaboration with the IT function and software suppliers
Enforcing, developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to control the business and safeguard our assets
Ensuring compliance and delivery to deadlines for Charity Commission and Companies House returns
Submission of all statutory filings that include Corporation Tax, VAT returns and queries, ONS requests, FET and PCI compliance
Assisting the Head of Finance with other ad hoc finance deliverables and deputising as required
Essential skills and experience needed:
Qualified ACA, CA, ACCA or CIMA minimum 2 years PQE experience
Strong technical and financial analysis knowledge and demonstrable management accounting experience in a similar sized company (within the events or charity sector preferable)
Strong IT skills and knowledge of the operation of accounting systems (Sage 200 experience desirable)
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, engage and earn the respect across a diverse team
Ability to use initiative and recognise when risks or issues require escalation
Confidence to ask questions in a constructive and professional manner
Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Excellent problem-solving skills ability to quickly understand an issue and provide solutions
High level of accountability and personal integrity
Ability to work within a fast changing, high demand environment and respond quickly to changing priorities
Willingness to question the status quo to drive process improvements
Efficiency and accuracy in delivery
Excellent excel skills
