Job Description:
Role and Responsibilities:
In this role, the individual will be leading one of the Credit data engineering teams within the Credit Platform organization and have the following responsibilities.
Proactively drive the vision for data platforms across various business functions, and define and execute a plan to achieve that vision
Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including scalability and system reliability
Build a high-quality data engineering team and design the team to scale
Build cross-functional relationships with Product Managers, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs
Manage the day-to-day planning and operations of technical resources schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and continuity in production support.
Manage data platform roadmaps and directions across a vertical
Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines to production
Manage the development of data resources and support new platform launches
Drive data quality and data availability across the credit data platforms
Manage the on-time delivery of high impact data assets working with partner engineering teams
Define and manage SLAs for all data sets and processes running in the production environment
Mentor and direct data engineers with technical thought leadership and recruit best in class data engineers
Leading a team; responsible for design, development, and testing of features/functions delivered
Collaborate with peers both within their team and across the organization
Work with product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high-quality solutions on time
Working with operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable
Demonstrate a high level of curiosity and keep abreast of the latest technologies
Identify opportunities to improve data architecture and advocate for investment in those opportunities with senior leadership
Demonstrate technical thought leadership and be able to influence technical decisions/approaches
Job Requirements:
12+ years of experience in building scalable data applications/products in large scale data environments
Experience in data warehousing, data modeling/architecture, database development, data analysis, profiling, reporting, governance, quality, cleansing, and/or standardization
Data architecture experience in any cloud platform is mandatory
Work experience on databases and SQL skills are mandatory
Experience in data modeling, Hadoop, Spark (Scala/Python), Spark-SQL
Experience in managing a team of data engineers
Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
Ability to lead, organize, and manage projects beginning to end that require coordinated efforts across multiple functions
Advanced scripting experience – Python, Shell, etc., is a plus
Experience in the financial services/Credit domain is a plus
Ability to operate and thrive in a fluid, ever-changing environment
Proactive in approach with a focus on driving results and outcomes with multiple priorities and multiple stakeholders
Drive innovation and customer advocacy. Be a positive change agent with a “can-do” attitude
Prior success in hiring, mentoring, and developing highly effective data engineers and building high performing teams
Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
A conscientious, curious, hard-working individual who craves accountability and loves to solve complex problems
Expertise in software development best practices and software development processes such as Agile
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Solid problem solving, time management, and organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
Self-driven and highly motivated with the ability to manage ambiguity and create clarity for the team
