NAB’s Monitoring Platform (NMP) is forming a Service Reliability Engineering capability to take full accountability of the Splunk app and infrastructure platform.
The Manager Engineer is responsible for the leadership of one or more operational teams with an objective of maturing run engineering capability.

Manager Engineer, SRE
The Manager Engineer is responsible for the leadership of one or more operational teams with an objective of maturing run engineering capability. Specifically, the team performs the following
Automates operational workload and improves resiliency, performance, cost, and maintainability.
Operationally run the product or service to ensure it is kept up to date and/or in a healthy state.
Address requests for assistance from customers both internal and external regarding the product or service with a view of implementing scalable self-service capabilities for end users.
Responsibilities:
Leading, coaching & mentoring of the team to uplift their role-based skills and knowledge
Execute and drive best practice run engineering capability across the enterprise
Champion an “everything as code” mindset and corresponding cultural transformation
Work with delivery teams to achieve success through the adoption of processes and practices that improve resiliency, performance and maintainability while reducing cost
Promote collaboration (both internal and external) to drive resilient systems both at runtime and design time
Shape, Design, Develop, Support & Implement operational improvements in alignment with the roadmap
Maintain an understanding and awareness of emerging trends and practices relevant to run engineering (eg. SRE, Chaos engineering etc)
Work as an effective team member, supporting peers and recognising the contributions of others to ensure the achievement of team goals
Demonstrate and provide professional and ethical behaviour in your actions by ensuring compliance with external legislation, bank standards and internal operating policies and procedures relevant to the position
Investigating and using new technologies where relevant.
What you will bring
Very strong technology experience
Strong experience in application development and / or operational roles
Solid experience in the leadership or management of teams
Proven technical and relationship management skills
People leadership and the mentoring of engineers in the development of their career
Solid practical knowledge of delivery methodologies and the ability to advocate the benefits of each
Demonstrated understanding of software development principles and experience in infrastructure/operations
Strong focus on the automation of operational workloads to reduce manual effort
Understanding of platform technology tools (eg. DB Management, cloud, build automation, version control etc)
Champion and role model best practices to build a positive team culture
Strong commitment to quality, detail and auditability
Excellent understanding of change management
Ability to effectively report, manage and escalate risk(s), issue(s) and defects
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Workflow tools such as JIRA / Rally
