The role:
Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will be responsible for the interaction and visual design of MarcoPolo For Educators, Marco Polo World School and our web portal. Taking a user-centered design approach, you will collaborate with our education and content teams to create design solutions, and work with our development teams to implement your designs.
Your experience:
You are an accomplished designer with a portfolio of UX design focusing on web / ecommerce and consumer-facing apps. Your previous work demonstrates how your user-centered mindset informs your design. You are highly skilled at crafting the pixel-perfect visual design of the UI. You can use a range of UX techniques such as user flows, user scenarios, storyboards or prototypes – whatever is needed – to best ideate, define and communicate your UX vision. You’ll have strong visual layout skills, a considered use of typography and be able to tell a story through your design. You’ll be comfortable ideating and conceptualising innovative and creative design approaches. You look to evidence from user research and established design principles to inform your decisions. You might even have solid experience of designing for children, game design, or video apps.
Key responsibilities:

Produce visual designs from concept to execution to delivery of pages.
Experience working in a web-based business and understanding the workflows that their role fits within to allow delivery of high-quality websites and apps.
Passion for design and UI/UX to deliver products customers will love to use.
Able to work to tight deadlines and direction change with flexibility to meet the changing needs of the business.
Create high-fidelity design specifications for apps and website
Work with and implement embedded media/motion/animated elements in collaboration with the creative team
Explore and ideate new UI concepts as sketches, user journeys or wireframes
Provide design direction and UI details to the front-end app & web developers within an agile development process
Create the information architecture and user flows for the MarcoPolo website, including the ecommerce experience
Test app builds and feedback on design implementation
Immerse yourself in the needs of our users (parents and early learners), and interpret data and analytics feedback, in order to be the ‘voice’ of users in design and development discussions
Contribute to usability testing as required, including creating interactive prototypes
Great understanding of responsive design and knows how everything translates from one device to another.
An ability to manage multiple projects independently at any one time to ensure stakeholders requirements are met
Well acquainted with User Experience and Interface best practice methodologies and design

Requirements:

5+ years of UX design experience, experience leading junior designers preferred
Autonomous team player who takes initiative and responsibility for key UX design process deliverables with outstanding interpersonal skills
Strong collaborator who ensures the success of others
Demonstrable experience in consumer-facing websites and content-rich apps
Ability to demonstrate strong working knowledge of research methods
Ability to design the flow and layout of solutions to solve customer problems
Ability to perform competitive analysis, define user personas, study education technology trends and strategies
Outstanding portfolio showcasing user-centered design projects that includes evidence of creating low and hi-fidelity website mock ups, user flows, scenarios or other UX artifacts
You are flexible, adaptable and able to change direction if necessary
Excellent communicator with fluent written and spoken English
Working knowledge of user research, usability principles and accessibility standards
Experience or knowledge of educational products, game design, ecommerce or video-based apps will be a significant bonus
Strong experience in Figma
Experience working with Design System is a plus
