Your new company

Hays are working with an international software company specialising in the security and privacy sector. With their consumer app and enterprise business platform, their goal is to stop the unauthorised use and abuse of your personal data. They are achieving something that has never been done before.

Your new role

They are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join their Application Services team, that builds and supports their highly scalable infrastructure for the organisation’s apps and on-premises IT.

If you are a skilled Infrastructure Engineer with experience in infrastructure automation, performance and availability engineering and large-scale systems design and engineering, then this is the role for you!

Responsibilities:

Design & build features and tools to support performance and capacity planning
Respond to alerts from production systems – identify and resolve root causes
Implement and manage cloud-based and on-premises systems supporting internal company operations
Investigate and fix performance and scalability bottlenecks
Monitor and continually improve the capacity of their production environments infrastructure
Prescribe a high-level problem description and produce an objective for one or more candidate solutions
General internal IT functions and support

What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in the role of Site Reliability Engineer, you will have the following skill set:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in software development or any other IT roles
Previous experience working in an Ops role (DevOps, System Administrator, SRE)
Strong knowledge of Linux systems and shell programming
Experience in either JavaScript or Python programming
AWS
Management and integration of REST API
Ability to problem-solve, self-manage, present new ideas and meet deadlines

Desirable:
Experience ensuring the resilience of scalable cloud-first environments
Chaos Monday or similar resilience testing tools
ESX server maintenance and setup
Git, Git Pipelines, JIRA, Jenkins etc.
Java, TypeScript, MongoDB, Maven, Microservice architecture
