A challenging and rewarding opportunity to work within our Regional Assets Track Maintenance team located in Ayr. This role will cover the district Nome to Wathana. This covers over 150 kms of track.
As the Track Supervisor for Ayr you will manage the allocation and deployment of resources including personnel, vehicles, equipment and inventory to deliver safe, cost effective and timely routine track maintenance. This role will also include effectively and safely leading a small team of 5 and will require the Supervisor to be on the tools.
Working in North Queensland means that our gangs are faced with extreme weather conditions in remote and isolated locations. Demonstrated experience working as part of a small team in remote environments is desirable.

About the role:

Ensure road patrols and other track monitoring activities are conducted as required to meet Queensland Rail standards and to ensure the short term safety of train operations on the corridor.
Produce prioritised defect lists in accordance with technical standards and Corridor Maintenance Targets
Provide effective and efficient management of the workgroup’s resources and activities to meet defined work programmes and support the achievement of track availability and condition targets. Conduct audits of completed work, arrange emergency response and, impose, modify, remove, review and report on speed restrictions as required.
Prepare and coordinate daily, weekly and monthly work programmes to ensure a high level of track asset availability in a cost efficient and timely manner, including planning for the on-time availability of labour, material and plant resources.
Manage training, development, performance, succession planning and the Civil Infrastructure Competency System for staff reporting directly to the position to ensure the labour resource is suitably skilled to effectively and efficiently support delivery of the required services.
Manage allocated inventory, plant, equipment, motor vehicles, buildings, depots and camps in accordance with policies, standards and regulations to effectively and efficiently meet work requirements.

We are looking for:

Extensive knowledge of track maintenance renewal and construction standards, systems and processes
Excel and general computer skills, ideally EAMS experience
Demonstrated resource management and work programming skills
Strong leadership, people management and negotiation experience

What to expect:

Protection Officer qualification
Road Patrol qualification
Work towards holding Track Inspectors qualification
Certificate 3 in Rail Infrastructure
Strong focus on safety and teamwork

Hours and Salary:

Permanent full time hours working across a 9 day fortnight (5 days one week, 4 days the next). Generally between the hours of 0700-1600, block work and being available on call to attend call outs essential
Base Salary commencing at $75,712 per annum + super, allowances (when working away from home) and penalty rates (where applicable)
