The Windows Server/VMware vSphere Administrator’s role is to design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Where applicable, the Server Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm.
Major responsibilities :
Manage work queues for Windows and VMware incidents, problems, changes, tasks, and requests and ensure workload is effectively managed; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate.
Coordinate with other VIT teams to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of VMWare and Windows Server systems.
Serve as the cornerstone for escalating windows server and VMware issues; provide timely response to customer escalations.
Maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, and related services
Maintain VMware vSphere ESX platform and related services.
Perform file system configuration and management; define and perform server backups and recovery procedures.
Plan and implement upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches systems.
Provide Windows and Active Directory support by overseeing and maintaining server functions, such as assuring logging and metrics data are stable.
Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
Create shell scripts as required.
Manage enterprise directory services and support server infrastructure.
Define and implement strategies for integrating disparate operating environments.
Recommend and execute modifications to server and VMware environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Develop and maintain training materials and server/system documentation.
Create required reports in response to business user needs.
Develop, document, and maintain operational processes and tasks.
Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team
Education / Experience: Educational requirements and number of years related experience acquired before or with Varian Medical Systems (VMS)
Educational requirements: Degree in computer science or equivalent
ITIL Certification
Number of years related experience: Minimum 5 years related experience,
Knowledge: Things incumbent needs TO KNOW to successfully perform on the job
Information Technology :
At least five years’ equivalent work experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing Windows server and VMware vSphere environments.
Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience of Windows 2016, Active Directory, vSphere, ESX, Linux, SAML, DNS, IIS, Proxy, DHCP.
Specific knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESX 6.5 and higher, as well Windows server 2008 – 2016 platform(s) required,
Experience installing, configuring and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated network equipment, including SCSI, RAID, and I/O topology.
Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
Familiarity with TCP/IP network protocols and operating system configuration.
General knowledge of additional VMware technologies as well as Windows SCCM will be well appreciated.
Azure Administration
Hands-on troubleshooting experience on windows & VMware
Understanding of ITIL processes and best practice
Customers : Sound understanding of customers and their requirements.
Skills and personal attributes : Things incumbent must be able TO DO to perform successfully in the job.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Must be highly motivated and have a positive attitude
Excellent listening and customer service skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Understanding of SLA terms
Proven track record working in a global and multicultural environment
